Dorothy Jean Tomlison, 79, Pontiac and formerly of Fairbury, died at 10:26 pm Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Pontiac Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 10:00 to 10:45 am Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury.
Mrs. Tomlison was born November 21, 1935 in Weston, IL the daughter of Frank and Edna McClellan Holland.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Dina) Tomlison, El Paso, IL, Debra Tomlison, Springfield, MO, Jacque Sweeney, Fairbury, IL, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, including her twin sister, Doris Kaisner, Fairbury, IL, Shirley (Dale) Lorance, Weston, IL, Carol Sue Stover and Robin Holland, both of Fairbury, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
In 1970 Dorothy was the 1st female bus driver at Fairbury-Cropsey High School and in 1985 she became the director of transportation for Prairie Central High School. She was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church, Evanston, IN and Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury. She taught Sunday school most of her adult life.
Dorothy loved to sew and quilt and was an avid card player. In 1981 she took a pilgrimage to Israel which she thoroughly enjoyed. She also enjoyed hosting community talks on subjects such as Abraham Lincoln, Indians and snakes.
