Refugio, TX – Dorothy Matilda Wenger, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at her daughter's home in Refugio, TX.

She was born April 24, 1922 in Strawn to George and Lydia (Wenger) Kiefer. On December 23, 1943 she married Willard Wenger of Fairbury who was pursing a military career. Willard retired from the military in April, 1958 and they returned to Fairbury to live. Willard passed away on January 15, 1982. Dorothy remained in Fairbury until she retired from the Ladies Garment Union. In August, 1984 she moved to Phoenix, AZ and resided there until April, 1997 when she moved to Refugio, TX because of health reasons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Baby Boy Kiefer, Harvey Kiefer, and Wesley Kiefer; one sister, Blanch Runyon; and her husband, Willard Wenger.

She is survived by her son, Charles E. Wenger of Tempe, AZ, her daughter Joy E. (H.O. "Sonny") Pipkin of Refugio, TX, and her sister Esther Kiefer of Fairbury. Dorothy had no grandchildren.

She is also survived by three nieces, Ruth (Bill) Carey and Wanda Kiefer of Greenville, S.C. and Marsha (Don) Simmons of Tampa, FL; and two nephews, Jerry Henry of Cincinnati, OH and Wayne Runyon of Morris, IL.

Dorothy was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of America in Fairbury, Phoenix, AZ, and Bastrop, TX.

Visitation will be from 6-8:00PM on Monday, February 11, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Funeral services will be at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 10:00AM. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
