Chenoa – Dorothy M. Whalen, 101 of Pontiac formerly of Chenoa passed away at 5:40 am, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa prior to the mass. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chenoa.
Dorothy was born January 26, 1916, in Colfax, IL, a daughter to James and Ada (Kerber) Meyer. She married F. Gerald Whalen on December 6, 1933, in Merna. He died February 17, 2000. Her parents, two brothers, five sisters, one granddaughter Julia Gremer, two sons-in-law John Gremer and Dale Chapman also preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Chapman, Betty (Dale) Oltman, Marilyn (Gordon) Whitmar all of Chenoa; Norma Gremer of Urbana; three sons, Gerald (Sandy) Whalen of Lexington; David (Lynda) Whalen of Lees Summit, MO; James Whalen of Mahomet; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, one brother Frank (Marcella) Meyer of Colfax, two sisters-in-law Marge Meyer of Fairbury and Leota Gaffney of Normal.
