Pontiac — Duane L. Currington, 84, of rural Pontiac, passed away at 8:02 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at OSF St. Paul’s Medical Center in Mendota.

He was born on December 29, 1941, in Fairbury, Duane was the son of Thomas and Fern (Williams) Currington. On October 29, 1961, he married the love of his life, Diana Campbell. Together, they built a quiet, peaceful, and happy life in rural Pontiac. Diana preceded him in death earlier this year on January 20, 2026.

Survivors include one sister, Shirley (Charles) Barnett of Inverness, FL; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

A proud veteran, Duane honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he worked for Bridgestone Tire Company in Bloomington for many years until his retirement.

An avid runner and cyclist, Duane possessed a passion for fitness and endurance, proudly completing numerous marathons over the years. He and Diana cherished their private life together, finding deep contentment in each other’s company.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A joint graveside service celebrating both Duane and Diana will take place at Payne Cemetery in rural Chenoa at a later date.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Chenoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
