Duane L. "Dewey" Mowery, 64, Mahomet, died 12:05 am June 22, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury. Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Duane was born October 25, 1952 in Fairbury, IL the son of Milton L. and Ethel Norine Chaudoin Mowery. He married Vicki Brown on May 5, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives in Mahomet.

Other survivors include his children, Shane (Joe) Mowery, Orland Park; Craig (Echo) Mowery, Forrest; Leslie (Chad) Bauman, Pontiac; Chad (Michele) Brown and Cory (Heather) Brown, both of Robinson; Rhett (Charity) Brown, Flat Rock; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Mowery, Chicago; Ivan Mowery, Denver, CO and one sister, Mary Lynne Bailey, Fairbury.

He is preceded in death by one brother.

Dewey was an avid outdoorsman. It bought him joy to be on the golf course, on the softball field, on the pond or in the tree-stand, not only because that's where he was the happiest, but also because he was able to share this happiness with his kids and grandkids.

He will be remembered most for his kind heart, sharp sense of humor, hard work ethic and love of nature.
