Duane A. Rathbun, 85, originally of Fairbury passed away on April 24, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.

He was born August 12, 1935 the son of Frank and Isabell Rathbun.  He married Carol Gott and they had 4 children, Cindy (Mike)Ziller, Becky Whitfill, Tamara (John)Ward and Scott (Lillian)Rathbun. Duane is also survived by 2 step daughters Kelly (Steve)Payne and Dena (Greg)Tjarks, 5 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by siblings Jim Rathbun, Margaret Claudon, Francis Morris and son-in-law Tom Whitfill.  Duane later married Irene St. Dennis.  They shared a love of the Shawnee Forest and good horses.

He was a farmer, a carpenter and talented horse man and gave the best hugs in this world.  He was a good man.

There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Germanville Twp. Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude.
