Edna M. Walters, 88, Fairbury died 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Burial will follow the service in Strawn Cemetery, Strawn, IL
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church of Fairbury Memorial Fund or Dominy Memorial Library, Fairbury.
Mrs. Walters was born November 19, 1927 in Fairfield, IL; the daughter of Frank and Beulah (Vaughan) Atteberry. She married Lewis Walters on July 12, 1947 in Gibson City. Her husband preceded her in death August 23, 2006.
Survivors include her four children: Michael (Debra) Walters of Valparaiso, IN; Patrick (Linda) Walters of Indianapolis, IN; Theresa (Gary) Granata of St. John, IN; Sharon (Tracy) Knight of Macomb, IL; one brother, Fred Atteberry of Carmi, IL; two sisters, Bernice Ehlers of Watseka, IL; Wanda (Jack) Cosgrove of Quincy, IL; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Edna was a graduate of Strawn High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairbury; Charity Home Rebekah Lodge 112, Indian Creek Country Club, the Garden Club and the Friends of Dominy Memorial Library all of Fairbury; and very active in the Daughters of the American Revolution in Gibson City.
She enjoyed the arts, antiquing and genealogy. Above all she loved spending time with her family. Her loving spirit and caring heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
