Obituary
Colfax – Edward "Jack" Burgess, 83, of Colfax passed away at 9:31pm, May 27, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
His funeral will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Pastor Gray will be officiating.
Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to a fund established at Regions Bank for his great-grandchildren.
Jack was born April 23, 1930 in Beaver Dam, KY the son of Bob and Verda Kessinger Burgess.
He married Vergie D. Trawick on September 24, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Maria Allen of Morton; grandchildren, Paul Sutton of Morton, Michael (Karen) Sutton of DesPlaines, and Kala (Bob) Handegan of Morton; great-grandchildren, Maria, Cassandra, Hannah, Jordan, Abby, and Jacob; sisters, Jeroulene (Harlan) Herald of Bloomington, Sharon Flanders of Colfax, and Barbara Burgess of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict.
He was a welder and a member of Local 99, Plumbers and Pipefitters.
Jack was also a member of Davis-Kerber American Legion in Colfax.
