Obituary

LeRoy – Edward J. Riddle Jr., 68 of LeRoy died at 10:57 AM, Friday, August 11, 2023 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Ed was born March 28, 1955 in Bloomington, the son of Edward and Betty Lou (Blessing) Riddle Sr. He graduated from Bloomington High School, Class of '73. In 1980, Ed began working for the City of Bloomington, where he worked until he retired in 2009. In retirement, Ed drove a shuttle bus at State Farm for G4S Global.

From an early age, Ed loved slot car racing, where he was nicknamed "The Snake." As a young adult, he was a competitive bowler and softball player. Ed had a passion for fishing. He was a longtime member at Tri Lakes, where he served on the board as President and Vice President. Ed often referred to his time on the lake as his happy place and "another day at the office." He was a big sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals.

To know Ed was to love his goofy sense of humor, witty one-liners, and quick comebacks. He knew no stranger and was a friend to many. Everyone close to him knew what a loving man he was. Ed married Deborah Eades August 28, 2004, and was honored to be a loving and committed husband. He took great pride in being a caring and devoted father to his daughter Lynsey, and fun and dedicated Papa to his granddaughter Kamila.

His parents preceded him in death along with his stepfather Charles Allison. He is survived by his wife Deborah of LeRoy; daughter Lynsey Riddle of Downs; granddaughter Kamila Trachsel of Downs; half sister Kathy Fishburn of Middletown, IN; brother and sister in-law Edwin and Connie Eades of Cooksville; former spouse and Lynsey's mother Karin Riddle of Chandler, AZ; and many cousins.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to LeRoy Emergency Ambulance Service.
