Anchor – Edwin Bielfeldt, 98 of Peoria formerly of Anchor, passed away at 1:05 pm, July 22, 2011 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria where he has resided with his wife for 9 years.
Funeral for Edwin will be held at 11:00am on
Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor with visitation one hour prior. The Reverend Stephen Goodwin will be officiate with assistance from Pastor Paul Park. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Lutheran Hillside Village Foundation or American Cancer Society.
Edwin was born December 25, 1912 in Anchor Township, to Fred and Maria Riecks Bielfeldt. He married Lois Taylor on June 30, 1935, and recently celebrated their 76th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife, Lois, one son Gary (Carlotta) Bielfeldt of Peoria Heights, one daughter, Kay (James) Lauritsen of Sarasota, FL, five grandchildren, David (Julie) Bielfeldt of Peoria Heights, Linda (Ted Greene) Bielfeldt of Peoria, Karen (Jeffrey) Wales of Peoria, Debra (Jim) Pilcher of Burr Ridge, Kristi (Bryan) Cruwys of Hinsdale, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Aldean, Harold and Rodell Bielfeldt and one sister, Marjorie Cumpston.
Edwin was a graduate of Anchor High School in 1930 and was a lifetime resident of the Anchor and Colfax area.
He retired from farming in 1978. After retiring, Edwin and Lois loved their winters and friends in Florida.
He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Anchor and served as President of the Church Council He was a member of the Indian Creek Country Club, the Moose Lodge, and Elks Lodge in Pontiac. He belonged to the W.B.C.C.I. Club since 1970 and loved to travel with his Airstream friends.
Edwin loved to take photographs and show his pictures and slides. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, dancing, playing cards and spending time with his family who will deeply miss him.
