Colfax- Edwina Bowman, 92, of Colfax, passed away at 3:00am, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. Pastor Ed Hudelson will be officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital of Chicago or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
Edwina was born April 19, 1924 in Springfield, the daughter of Edwin and Mercedes Bratton Redding.
She married Lee Bowman on November 25, 1939 in St. Louis, MO. He passed away on May 20, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Sharon Bowman of Colfax , Carol (Russ) Stephenson of Colfax, Gail Devore of Lexington, and Marcia (Jim) Walters of Merrimac, WI; son, Lonnie (Serita) Bowman of Colfax; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-laws, Bernadine Brandt of Gibson City and Muriel Winterland of Dora, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Henry Redding, Harry Winterland and Tommy Redding; son-in-law, Clyde Devore; grandson, Christopher Devore; sister-in-law, Ilene Redding; and brother-in-law, Edmund Brandt.
Edwina devoted her life to working side by side with her husband while raising her children. She loved spending time with family and friends, her greatest joy were her kids and grandkids. Her home and her heart were always open for anyone to stop by for a meal or her famous pies.
Edwina retired from Ridgeview School District in 1994 after driving a school bus for 35 years. She loved the children on her bus route and always made sure they had treats for special occasions. Edwina was a very special lady and considered an angel here on Earth by all who knew her. She went home to be with her Savior.
