Elizabeth Ann Parmele, 87, Fairbury passed away at 8:45 am Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Colfax.
She was born October 15, 1922 in Fairbury, IL the daughter of James Garfield and Naoma Ramseyer Drennen. She married David Seth Parmele on February 8, 1947 in Fairbury, IL. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2004.
Surviving is a sister, Phyllis Tipton, Fairbury, one nephew, Jim (Sally) Tipton, Fairbury, and three nieces, Mary (Jim) McCambridge, Windsor, CO, Sandy (Lew) Veal, Middleburg, FL and Jean Masters, Stamford, CT.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Hacker.
Liz was a 1941 graduate of Fairbury Township High School and later attended Beauty School in Peoria. She owned and operated the Merle Norman Studio in Fairbury for 17 years. In 1966 Liz and Dave moved to Ft. Collins, CO where she continued her Merle Norman career until her retirement in 1987. Liz was an avid bowler and competed in many league tournaments. She became a die hard Cub fan while wintering in Mesa, AZ for nearly 14 years. In 2005 Liz moved back to the Fairbury area.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with the Rev. Spencer Homan officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:15 pm Saturday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with her arrangements. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Dominy Memorial Library both in Fairbury.
