Sun City, AZ – Ella James Holforty, 95, a member of the World's Greatest Generation  passed peacefully on April 6, 2021.

She was a dedicated Mom, adventurous world traveler, animal lover and avid reader.  She was born Nov. 8, 1925 in Bloomington IL. She attended Wesleyan University as a theater major and married Charles Holforty. Charles and Ella lived in Fairbury IL where they raised 5 children.

Ella was active in her community attending the Methodist Church, and numerous civic organizations.  She retired from working in the Speech Dept. at Fox Center in Dwight, IL and moved to Edisto Island, SC where she was equally involved in community and church life. She returned to Fairbury in 2005 and lived on Oak Street before her final move to Sun City AZ where she lived close to her daughter.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Alma Lewis James and Percy C. James; two sisters, Sarah Beach James and Olive Davis; a son, John Holforty; a brother Percy James, and dear friend, Harlan Wessels.

She is survived by one sister, Phoebe James Crimmins (Jim), Augusta, GA along with her children; Jim Holforty (Nancy) of Protem, MO, Jerry Holforty (Edisto Island, SC), Julia Holforty Travis (Larry) of Glendale AZ, Sarah J. Holforty (Dallas, TX); 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
