Obituary
Elmer L. Gilliam, 74, Chenoa, died at 4:25am Sunday, May 26, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gilliam was born February 12, 1939 in Alumwell, TN the son of John Wesley and Aubra Looney Gilliam. He married Sharon L. Orr on August 19, 1964 in Chicago, IL. She survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include his children, Lauri McDonald, Forrest, IL; Thomas Lee (Amber) Gilliam, Robert John Gilliam and Ronald Paul (Shawna) Gilliam, all of Pontiac, IL; John Eric Gilliam, Chenoa, IL; two brothers, John (Vera) Gilliam, Columbus, MS; Pat Gilliam, Rogersville, TN; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Gilliam worked as a truck driver with the Rose family for thirty seven years. He later drove for Lee Transportation and Brunton Motor Freight, both in Pontiac; and formerly worked at R&R Construction and Union Roofing, both in Chenoa.
