Obituary

Elmer G. Hallock, 90 of Fairbury passed away at 9:55 pm, Sunday, January 17, 2010 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Cremation rites have been accorded with a memorial service to be held at 11 am, Friday, January 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elmer was born September 20, 1919 in Fairbury, the son of William and Louise (Demler) Hallock. He married Louise Grant Leffingwell on June 14, 1976 in Fairbury. She survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include, one son; Randall W. Hallock, Fairbury, one step-son; Dean (Becky) Leffingwell, Louisville, CO, one nephew; Donald (Nila) Johansen, Fairbury, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, one daughter and one step-son.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Fairbury, Youth Fund.

Elmer was a 1938 graduate of Fairbury Township High School and attended Aircraft Engineers School, Geiger Field, Spokane, WA. He was a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp serving 46 months during WWII. After the service Elmer was employed by Koehl Brothers, Fairbury as the office manager until his retirement on December 31, 1981. He was very involved with the Fairbury Fair Board and the American Legion Speedway serving over 57 years of which 39 of them held the office of Fair Treasurer, retiring in 1990.

Mr. Hallock was a member of the Pontiac Moose Lodge, Fairbury Tarbolton Masonic Lodge #351, former member of Fairbury Order of the Eastern Star and lifetime member of the John Joda American Legion Post #54.
