Obituary

Elva Mae Sutter, 84, of Fairbury, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 12:45 am at Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, October 15, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Steven Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation for Elva Mae will be held from 4-7:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Elva Mae was born August 14, 1927 in Pleasant Ridge Twp., the daughter of Chris and Kathryn (Metz) Haab. She married Maurice P. Sutter on October 28, 1944 in Pontiac. He passed away on May 29, 2010.

Survivors include her children, Peggy (Joe) Mehrkens of Pontiac, Roger (Kathi) Sutter of Pontiac, and Paul (LuAnne) Sutter of Fairbury; one sister, Helen Rapp of Fairbury; six grandchildren, Mark (Kim) Mehrkens, Brad (Kara) Mehrkens, Nicole (Matt) Mehrkens Blaetz, Megan Sutter, Cara Sutter Bazzell, and Derek Sutter; eight great-grandchildren, Maddie Mehrkens, Lauren Mehrkens, Alex Blaetz, Andrea Mehrkens, Seth Mehrkens, Samantha Mehrkens, Emmie Blaetz, and Blake Bazzell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to SELCAS, Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, or Brian J. Munz Safety Complex, Fairbury.

Elva Mae was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fairbury, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Country Couples, Sunbeam Club, Sunshine Club of McDowell and volunteered at the Fairbury Blood Mobile.

Mrs. Sutter attended Saunemin schools and worked at Dave's Supermarket, Fairbury and Westview elementary school as a cook and later was co owner-operator of the "Grey Goose" restaurant, Fairbury. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
