Obituary
Emma Verena Ifft, 87, Fairbury, died at 5:15 am Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Emma was born October 2, 1921, in Fairbury the daughter of I.L. and Olga Doebler Schmidt. She married Elmer W. Ifft on January 23, 1944 in Cropsey. He survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are their four children, Larry (Shirley) Ifft, Janice (fiancée, Byron Nussbaum) Ifft, Duane (Mary) Ifft, and David Ifft all of Fairbury; one brother, Frank (Pearl) Schmidt, Fairbury; two sisters-in-law, Florence Schmidt, Forrest, Louise Schmidt, Fairbury; twelve grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
Emma was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Bill and Ed Schmidt, one grandson and one great grandson.
Emma was a homemaker. She was a 1940 graduate of Fairbury Township High School and was a secretary and bookkeeper in the 1940's. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
