Obituary
Colfax: Mrs. Elza (Ethel L. Baird) Powell was born October 31, 1913 at Arrowsmith, IL the daughter of G.C. and Daisy (Brinegar) Baird.
Ethel wed Elza Powell at Bloomington. He preceded her in death August 12, 1979. They farmed for 37 years before moving to Colfax.
Survivors are 1 daughter: Norma Siebring, Bloomington, 1 grandson: Brent (Christine) Siebring, Bloomington, 1 great grandson, Derek Siebring and 1 sister, Edna Letzter, Dwight, IL.
She is preceded in death by 1 brother, 3 sisters and a daughter Sharon who died in infancy.
Ethel was a telephone operator (at Arrowsmith), for 5 years before she wed.
Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church, Colfax, and the American Legion Auxillary, having been president for 2 years. She also belonged to the Never Too Old Club.
She helped with bingo at Octavia Manor and was in charge of the EMCAA membership starting in 1982.
She worked at General Electric for 14 ½ years having retired in 1978.
A reception for family and friends will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the Colfax United Methodist Church.
Private inurnment will be in Anchor Twp. Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Ridgeview Music Boosters.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
