Obituary

Fairbury: Ethel B. Simmons, 91 of Fairbury, died at 12:35 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Mrs. Simmons was born December 2, 1916 in Corryton, TN, the daughter to John H. and Arrie B. (Warren) Piercy. She married Wade C. Simmons on December 31, 1937 in Pontiac, IL. He passed away on October 6, 1996.

Surviving are one daughter; Janet Summers, Bloomington, IL and two sons; Thomas (Virginia) Simmons, Bloomington, IL and Dan Simmons, Normal, IL, four grandchildren; Rebekah (Ron) Schneider, Machesney Park, IL, Phyllis Summers, Normal, Thomas L. Simmons, Pittsburgh, PA, Sherri Simmons, Heyworth, four great grandchildren; Julie Schneider, St. Louis, MO, Jason (Melissa) Schneider, Mesa, AZ, John Schneider, Champaign-Urbana, IL, and Little Hannah Summers, Normal, born in China. Also surviving are three sisters; Scytha Mullen, Chenoa, Alice Tull, Bloomington, Eliza Simons, Robbinsville, NC.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Jim Smiley officiating. Burial will follow at Avoca Twp. Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be one hour prior to services also at the funeral home in Fairbury.

Her parents, two sisters, four brothers and son in-law; William Summers preceded her in death.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Eastview Christian Church, Normal, IL. or Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury, IL.

Ethel was a member of Eastview Christian Church, Normal, IL and taught Sunday school for 43 years. She was a homemaker to her family and an avid quilter. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew and loved her.
