Obituary

Eugene Hines, 93, of Fairbury died at 2:10 pm Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to the Fairview Haven Nursing Home Good Samaritan Fund.

Mr. Hines was born July 11, 1914 in Kahoka, MO, the son of William and Edith Kwasigroh Hines. He married Mable Wagner on December 31, 1939 in Lebanon, IN. She survives in Fairbury.

Also surviving is a daughter, Janice (Harvey) Schieler, Fairbury, four grandchildren, Stephanie (Dave) Wieland, Eric (Nancy) Schieler, Keith (Jodi) Schieler, Suzanne (Nate) Wieland, fourteen great-grandchildren, Austin Schieler, Abbey Schieler, Erin Schieler, Bryce Wieland, Jarod Schieler, Evan Wieland, Paige Schieler, Sydney Wieland, Lauren Schieler, Autumn Wieland, Conner Wieland, Noel Schieler, Quinn Schieler, and Kyle Schieler.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Morrow, Mabel Billingsley and two brothers, Gilbert Hines and Leslie Hines.

Mr. Hines had worked in mechanical maintenance at Leman Case Dealership, Wiedman International Dealership, Claudon Motors, DuPont, Honegger's Inc., and later Pittsburgh Tube.

He was a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. Gene rode motorcycles for 77 years. As a younger man he participated in numerous motorcycle competitions.
