Bloomington- Eugene Ivan Umstattd, Sr. , age 84, of Bloomington, died at his home Sunday, March 21, 2010 after a battle with cancer.
Gene was born December 20, 1925 in Bloomington, IL, a son of James and Marguerite Frawley Umstattd. Surviving him is his life-companion and wife of 35 years, Geri Wagy-Umstattd
Other survivors include one son, Eugene Umstattd, Jr (Rhonda), Lake in the Hills, IL, one daughter-in-law, Gloria Umstattd, Ft Lauderdale, FL, one step-daughter, Georgia Bailey (Bob), Cropsey, IL, three step-sons, Ronald Loeschen , Wilmington, IL, Gerald Loeschen (Pam), Lockport, IL, and Douglas Thompson (Crystal), Marceline, MO. Also surviving are 2 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 2 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, 8 step-granddaughters, 4 step-grandsons, 13 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandson. His parents and a son, Steve, preceded him in death.
Gene was in the Coast Guard from 1943 to1946. He owned and operated Econo Photo for a number of years in Bloomington/Normal.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Center, Dr. Migas, and Hospice personnel for all the help they have given. Donations can be made to either Advocate Bro-Menn Hospice in Bloomington, IL or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colfax, IL.
Cremation has been accorded.
The Rosary will be recited at 4:30PM on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Colfax, Illinois. Visitation will be immedicate after and until 7:00 PM.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Colfax with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Inurnment will be at Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey, Illinois immediate afterwards.
