Gibson City – Eunice Anne "Eunie" Ferguson Volk, 77, of Naperville, formerly of Gibson City, passed away at 9:05am, April 2, 2013 at Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, Naperville.
Cremation has been accorded.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Chenoa Township Cemetery.
Pastor Steven Livengood will be officiating.
A celebration of Eunie's life will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday at School House Apartment 200 N. Melvin, Gibson City, where she was a longtime resident.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Eunie was born August 8, 1935 in Fairbury the daughter of Ralph and Anna Harris Ferguson.
Surviving are her daughters, Katherine Volk-Boehl and Kari Volk; granddaughters, Anna Volk and Gracie Boehl all of Woodridge; sisters, Alice Rigsby of Chenoa, Ivy (Charles) Whately and Nila (Donald) Johansen both of Fairbury; brother-in-law, Sherman Bowen of Gibson City; and many nieces and nephews.
Eunie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Aura Mae Bowen.
She was the owner and operator of her home daycare for several years. She then was a baker for Fairbury Bakery and Barb's Café in Strawn. She also worked at Dan and Joy's in Gibson City where she was known as the "Pie Lady" and last worked at Harry's Bar and Grill in Gibson City.
Eunie was a member of the Women of the Moose.
She loved to play BINGO with her friends at School House Apartments.
