Evelyn I. Jackson, 79, of Chenoa passed away at 10:10 am, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at her residence in Chenoa.
Her funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm, Monday, July 6, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
Evelyn was born June 24, 1930 in Bloomington, the daughter of Elmer and Lena (Schultz) Wahls. She married Lester Jackson Jr. on June 14, 1953 in Chenoa. He passed away August 11, 1984.
Survivors include; three children; Kathy Turpin, Gridley, Jay (Jackie) Jackson, Lexington, Nancy (Jason) Finfrock, Mahomet, six grandchildren; Jacob and Mathew Turpin, Joshua Jackson, Zachary and Sawyer Daebelliehn, and Ayla Finfrock, and one brother; Marvin (Libby) Wahls, Chenoa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother; Harold Wahls.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of Donor's Choice.
Evelyn was a 1948 graduate of Chenoa High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign. She taught elementary education in the Chenoa School District. She was an avid Cubs Fan and enjoyed playing Bridge with the "Thursday Afternoon Gang" and spending time with her children and grandchildren who will miss her deeply.
