Everett D. Wenger, 78 of Fairbury died at 6:18 am, Friday, February 20, 2009 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac, IL.
His funeral service will be 11:30 am, Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa with Pastor Jerry Koch officiating. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:15 am prior to the service at the church on Monday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
Everett was born May 9, 1930 in Avoca Twp. the son of Raymond L. and Dora Ruth (Farney) Wenger. He married Margaret Thomas on August 21, 1954 in Gibson City. She passed away on March 23, 1973. He later married Lauretta Elliott November 30, 1974 in Fairbury. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2002.
Survivors include one son; Kenn Wenger, Sibley, daughter; Karen (Daniel) Meister, Fairbury, daughter; Barbara (Milton Mowery) Elliott, Bloomington, one step-son; Rennon Ray (Patricia) Elliott, Tucson, AZ, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa, Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac or SELCAS, Fairbury.
Everett was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chenoa where he attended weekly Bible study classes. He was involved in the Bloomington Barber Shop Quartet and was a square dance caller for WLS Radio in Chicago for many years. He was employed by Ziegenhorn & Sons John Deere, Fairbury for over 40 years. His gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched his family and many friends who will always remember him.
