Obituary
Florence M. Day, Fairbury died on her 100th birthday at 5:05am Monday, October 3, 2011 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the First United Methodist church, Fairbury with Rev. Steven Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
She was born October 3, 1911 at Fairbury, IL, the daughter of Debold and Lottie Freeman Householder. She married Harvey C. Day on May 28, 1937 in Fairbury. He died on April 9, 1966.
Survivors include a son Byron (Susan) Day, Versailles, KY; a daughter, Ruth (Jim) Barnard, Silverdale, WA; a brother, Ray (Alice) Householder, Fairbury; a sister, Janet (Ronald) Woodall, Seminole, FL; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by an infant son and one sister.
She was a resident of Peoria, Galesburg and Fairbury. She graduated from Fairbury Twp. High School and Illinois State Normal University. She taught in local area schools for 26 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury and the United Methodist Women, Fairbury Hospital Auxiliary, and Livingston County retired teachers. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, National Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and Eastern Star.
The family suggests memorial offerings be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury or Cunningham Children's Home
