Mrs. Voigt was born, May 18, 1926 in Davenport, IA; the daughter of Dr. Everett and Hazel (Daniels) Gerdes.  She married Dr. Earl H. Voigt on September 29, 1963 in Fairbury.  Her husband, Dr. Voigt, preceded her in death on December 15, 1995.  Her parents and one brother, Dean E. Gerdes, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Michael) Tuttle of Bloomington; grandchildren; Jared, Jana and Jenelle Tuttle; sister in-law, Phyllis Gerdes of Bloomington; and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Florence moved to Fairbury from Davenport, Iowa when she was not quite 2 years old.  She loved Fairbury and talked about it daily.  Florence moved to The Village at Mercy Creek, Normal in October of 2012 to be closer to her family.   Family and Friends were very important to Florence, and anyone who knew Florence, knew she was selfless and always looking out for others. Florence especially took great pride in her grandchildren.

Mrs. Voigt was a 1944 graduate of Fairbury Twp. High-school. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fairbury where she served in the United Methodist Women.  Before marriage she worked as a bookkeeper for Payne Plumbing & Heating and later Weber Plumbing & Heating.  After she married Dr. Voigt, she did the bookkeeping for his optometric practice until retirement and was a homemaker.  She was a 51-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and 77- year member of the Order of Eastern Star.   She was also a member of the Sunbeam Club and Rebekah Lodge, all of Fairbury.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heritage Health, Bloomington, for Florence's recent care.  The family would also like to thank the residents and staff at The Village at Mercy Creek for her care and the many friendships Florence enjoyed over the last 10 years.   Lots of memories and relationships through the years that we will treasure forever.
