Francisco "Frank" Chavez Jr., 68, Fairbury, died at 3:54 am Friday, August 2, 2019 at his residence, Fairbury.

Frank was born July 19, 1951 in McAllen, TX the son of Francisco and Maria B. Oliva Chavez Sr.  He married Ernestina Solis on August 8, 1971 in Kinsman, IL.  She survives in Fairbury.

Other survivors include their children, Evanna Chavez, Sergio (Jodi Price) Chavez, Sesar (Christina) Chavez, all of Fairbury, six grandchildren, one great granddaughter, four brothers, Gumecindo (Rosa) Chavez, McAllen, TX, Cesar (Yolanda) Chavez, Edinburg, TX, Gustavo Chavez, Pontiac, Servando Chavez, McAllen, TX, one sister, Sylvia Urbina, McAllen, TX, and one step sister, Martha Lara, Auburndale, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sandra Orozco and one step sister, Guadalupe Ortiz.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, August 5, 2019 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 3:30 pm.  His funeral will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, August 6, 2019 also at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with burial in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.  The family suggests memorials be give to the Francisco Chavez Jr. family or the American Cancer Society.

Frank had been employed as a correctional officer for 28 years with the Illinois Department of Corrections, Pontiac retiring in 2007.  He loved salvaging with his partner Otis and later with his wife, Ernie.   He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and brother who will be deeply missed.
