Genevieve L. Nichols, 78, of Harrisburg, IL passed away June 29, 2009 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Genevieve was born November 12, 1931 in St. Ann, IL the daughter of Frank and Velma (Varvel) Dixon. She married Robert Nichols. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of the First Opportunity Baptist Church in Carrier Mills. She worked as a domestic housekeeper and waitress.
Survivors include two adopted daughters, Dawn Higgsby and Pauline Richardson; special friend, Roger Tull, Harrisburg, IL; two brothers, Don Dixon, Pontiac, IL and Bill Varvel, Terre Haute, IN.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Graveside inurnment will be at 2:00 pm Monday, August 3, 2009 at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury with Jerry Tull officiating. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of local arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
