Obituary
Fairbury: George H. Hurt, 81, of Fairbury, died at 7:34 am, Monday, November 3, 2008 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 6, 2008 also at the memorial home in Fairbury, with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Mr. Hurt was born on June 19, 1927 in Fairbury, the son of Otis and Nola (Ray) Hurt. He married Helen Iaconelli September 18, 1974 in Forrest, IL. She passed away May 26, 2005.
Survivors include one brother; Otis Hurt, Fairbury and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Edward Hurt, one half brother; James Shields, two sisters; Catherine Bock and Helen Branson, two half sisters; Frances Woosley and Reathel Simons.
George loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and all aspects of nature. He worked for many years for US Steel as a wheelsman on Lake Michigan transporting Steel. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to the George Hurt Memorial Fund.
