Obituary

Chenoa – Gerald "Dino" McGrath, 78, of Chenoa, passed away on November 23, 2019, peacefully at his home.

Cremation has been accorded.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, December 8, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. All are welcome to join the family at the Chenoa VFW following the service.

Friends may greet the family from 1-3:00pm, Sunday, December 8, 2019, also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Flanagan. Memorials may be made to the Chenoa VFW.

Dino was born July 10, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Thomas and Evelyn Peters McGrath. They preceded him in death. He married Ladine Morrison on September 13, 1975. She died November 7, 2001.

Surviving are his children, Jon (Kim) Stoeckel of FL, Tony Stoeckel of Bloomington, Tanya (Allen) Hurt of Peoria, Mary (John) Cerda of Chenoa, and Michael (Tammy) McGrath of KY; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; siblings, Tom McGrath of CA, Phil (Sandy) McGrath of CA, Richard (Shirley) McGrath of IN, Janet (Lee) Fry of Chicago, Paula (Mark) Poyar of CA, and Don (Bev) McGrath of AZ.

Dino was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He received three Purple Hearts, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Vietnam Service medals.

He worked as a pipeline x-ray technician for many years. Dino enjoyed fishing, traveling, and piloting small planes. He loved the company of his friends and enjoyed sporting events. Especially the Illini, Bears, Cubs and the White Sox.
