Gladys Ruth Wessels

Gladys Ruth Wessels, 94, Fairbury, died at 11:20 pm Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Cropsey United Methodist Church with Pastor Michelle Gierman officiating. Burial will be in Strawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday also at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the Cropsey United Methodist Church or Fairview Haven Retirement Community. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. Wessels was born February 10, 1932, in rural Strawn, IL the daughter of Fred and Helen Stanford Adam. She married Otis M. Wessels on February 22, 1953, in Sibley, IL. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2008.

Survivors include her children, David (Marlys) Wessels, Asbury, IA, Linda (Philip) Corban, Pontiac, IL, Doug (Dorothy) Wessels, Forrest, six grandchildren, Katrina (Tyler) Risma, Jennifer (Chris) Barger, Michael (Alcha) Corban, Danny (Danielle) Wessels, Rachael (Ethan) Wessels, and Mitchell (Jacqueline) Wessels, fourteen great grandchildren, Faith, Henry, Ada, Penelope, Elliot, Gwen, Chloe, Reese, Everett, Whitney, Tanner, Brooke, Quinn and Blake.

She is preceded in death by two sisters.

Mrs. Wessels was a 1950 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School having been in its first graduating class. She was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution, and charter member of the Country Couples (1953-2021).
