Glen R. "Jim" Spence, 78 of Chenoa passed away with his family by his side at 9:08 pm, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his residence in Chenoa.
His funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Robb McCoy officiating. Burial will take place in Payne Cemetery, Rural Chenoa. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12:45 pm Saturday also at the memorial home in Chenoa.
Jim was born in Fairbury, the son of Carlisle and Pearl (Busby) Spence. He married Bonita Ramsey on May 10, 1952 in Pontiac. She passed away on February 20, 2007.
Survivors include; two sons; Cliff (Denise) Spence, Chenoa, Carl (Lisa) Spence, Chenoa, three daughters; Lisa (Kevin) Krones, Gridley, Joyce (Bill) Ashcraft, Pontiac, Sheri (Gary) Moser, Fairbury, two sisters; Carolyn (Ernie) Hofmann, Fairbury, Marilyn Poshard, Chenoa, eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and the "Morning Coffee Gang", Joann (Bert) Dyer and Roy Reed.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Chenoa VFW Post #8350 or United Methodist Church of Chenoa or the charity of donor's choice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Bill, Bob and Matt Spence, two sons; Glen Madison Spence and Weldon Ray Spence.
Glen was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Seibert and Sons, Chenoa after 42 years of employment. He was a member of the Chenoa VFW Post #8350 and the United Methodist Church of Chenoa.
