Obituary

Gleneta Lenora Grant, 85 of Evergreen Village, Normal formerly of Chenoa passed away at 6:10 pm, Monday, October 11, 2010 at Advocate Bromenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Her funeral services will be 10 am, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Grant Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 also at the memorial home in Chenoa.

Gleneta was born December 19, 1924 in Neosho, MO; the daughter of Alvin and S. Alice (Robertson) Powell. She married Francis William Grant in June of 1944 in Saybrook. He passed away on December 18, 1998.

Survivors include seven daughters; Nancy (Richard) Zeine, Bloomington, Karin Quinn, Normal, Peggy (Steve) Fillippone, Ft. Wayne, IN; Bonnie (E.J.) Hodges, Lexington, Kathy Bradford, Bloomington, Susan Grant, Bloomington, Linda (Dave) Harrison, Lexington, two sisters, Marie Berry, CA; Goldie Gose, Bloomington; twin brothers; Jack Powell, Danvers and Joe Powell, FL; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Clarence Allen Powell and one sister, Liz Bane.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to Chenoa Library or the Chenoa Fire Department.

Gleneta was a graduate of Saybrook High School and was a seasonal employee at the Lexington seed corn plant for nearly 20 years. She was an avid reader, loved NASCAR racing, baking, cooking and most known for her homemade noodles and banana salad. Daily she would work on crossword puzzles keeping her sharp until her last days. Above all Gleneta loved spending time with her family, who will miss her greatly.
