Colfax – Glenn George Taylor, 83, of Colfax, passed away at 4:42pm, August 29, 2024, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His funeral will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. SAM Marcia Buchs will be officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Where military rites will be performed.
Visitation will be held from 5-8:00pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax and 9-9:45am on Thursday at the church.
Glenn was born October 13, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Eugene Richard and Lu Lu Mae (Plank) Taylor. He married Katherine Jean Fogal on June 2, 1963. She died March 8, 2014.
Surviving are his sons, Jason Taylor of Normal, Tim Taylor of Colfax, and David (Sarah Wargo) Taylor of Bloomington; grandchildren, Treavor and Addison Taylor and Andi and Piper Wargo; brothers, Richard (Audrey) Taylor of Kansas City, MO and Raymond (Debbie) Taylor of Auburn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Taylor.
Glenn was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam.
He retired in 2006 from Illinois State University after 22 years, as a route diver for Central Receiving.
Glenn was the current and past Commander of the Davis Kerber American Legion Post, Colfax.
He was a member of the NRA and Guns Save Lives.
Glenn enjoyed traveling to Arthur and Branson, MO. In the winter for the last 30 years, you find Glenn as the doorman for the Ridgeview High School Basketball games. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids in all their activities.
Glenn's friendly disposition and the love he had for his family will be missed.
