Goldie Marie Carlson

Fairbury – Goldie Marie Carlson, 102 of Fairbury, passed away at 11:18pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Goldwater Care, Pontiac.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury; with Rev. Jerry Good officiating. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to DAR (Daughters of American Revolution or OSF Hospice.

Goldie was born June 20, 1924 in rural Fairbury; a daughter to Lester E. and Hazel Marie (Butler) Travis. She married Eugene Carlson on September 18, 1948 in Fairbury. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1993. Her parents, five brothers, Virgil, Marvin, Maurice, Chester and Martin Travis and two sisters, Betty Wharton and Mary Rose Blodgett also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her siblings, Martha Beckley of Fairbury; Shirley (Fred) Casper of Pontiac; Robert (Diane) Travis of Forrest, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Goldie was a graduate of Fairbury Township High School. And was employed as bookkeeper for Fairbury Auto Parts in Fairbury for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Fairbury and active member of D.A.R. Daughter’s of the American Revolution. She enjoyed researching genealogy and reading. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
