North Vernon, IN - Harlan L. Harrell, 75, North Vernon, IN: formerly of rural Forrest, died at 4:40 am Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Our Hospice of South-Central Indianna, Inpatient Facility, Columbus, IN.

Harlan was born October 4, 1950 in Urbana, IL the son of Wayne and Wilma (Waller) Harrell. He married Janice Dyar in 1986 in Vernon, IN. His wife survives in North Vernon, IN.

Other survivors include one sister, Kay Zindar of Arkansas; two brothers, Charles “Chick” Harrell of Forrest; Thomas (Shelly) Harrell of rural Forrest; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and sister in-law, Cindy K. Harrell.

Harlan graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana with a Master’s Degree in History; and was employed there as a teacher’s assistant in History department. Harlan and his wife Janice enjoyed traveling to numerous vendor events selling their works of art.

A visitation will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 2:30 pm on Wednesday in Pleasant Ridge Twp. Cemetery, Wing.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Charity of their choice.
