Obituary

Fairbury - Harley Martin, 93, of Fairbury, died at 8:10AM, May 14, 2008 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday, May 16, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to the funeral services on Saturday at the church. His Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Rev. Mark Shell and Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Burial will take place in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa

Harley was born June 9, 1914 in Dale, IL the son of Claude and Irene Prince Martin. They preceded him in death. He married Wilma Hutchcraft on August 9, 1937 in Mount Vernon., IN. She passed away October 25, 2007.

Surviving are six daughters, Geri (John) Wiles of Chatsworth, Norma (Franklin) Fosdick of Fairbury, Mary (Bill) Decker of Grand Rivers, KY , Deloris Meiss of Heyworth, Connie (Doug) Aberle of Lake Bloomington and LaVerne (Mark) Aberle of Chatsworth; one son Harold Martin of Fairbury; one sister, Alice Taylor of Rochelle; 23 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, three sisters, one son, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Harley worked and retired from Pittsburgh Tube Inc. in 1979. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
