Harold R. Butler, 86, Fairbury, crossed over at 11:00 pm Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggest memorials be given to the Livingston County Humane Society.
Mr. Butler was born March 27, 1928 in Colfax, IL the son of Elmer and Pernie Harvey Butler. He married I. Joyce Hodges on December 10, 1949 in Fairbury, IL. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include one son, Michael R. (Diania) Butler, one daughter, Joy Butler, both of Pontiac, IL, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two brothers and one daughter, Jan M. Butler.
Mr. Butler served in the US Navy from April 10, 1946 until February 5, 1948. He worked in maintenance at the Honegger Feed Mill, Fairbury for many years. He was a member of the Tarbolten Masonic Lodge, #351, Fairbury, enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and was an avid sports fan who loved the Chicago Cubs, Bears and NASCAR.
