Helen Louise Rapp, 97 of Fairbury, died at 11:07 am, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Rick Plattner officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, July 25, 2014; and one hour prior to services on Saturday also at the funeral home in Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community or the charity of donor's choice.
Mrs. Rapp was born April 5, 1917 in rural Fairbury, the daughter of Chris and Kate (Metz) Haab. She married Sam M. Rapp on December 26, 1936 in rural Fairbury. He passed away on November 20, 1978.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Cox of Streator, IL; Kay (Gary) Gray of Hot Springs, AR; one son, Ron (Shirley) Rapp of Bushnell, IL; five grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one son, Robert Dale Rapp.
Helen attended the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury and was a member of the Merry Maker's Club and the Sunbeam Club both in Fairbury. She was a farmer's wife and worked as a cook for Fairbury-Cropsey Schools for over 20 years, later working part-time in Fairview Haven's dietary. Helen enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends and family who will miss her gentle, kind and giving spirit.
