Fairbury: Helen Louise Streib, 91, Fairbury died 9:47pm Thursday, July 20, 2006 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00am Monday, July 24, 2006 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Burial will follow in Pennell Cemetery, Towanda.
Mrs. Streib was born April 3, 1915 at Lexington, IL. The daughter of Harry and Coral Ogden Fritz. She married Elmer Leroy Streib on September 19, 1947 in Lexington, IL. He died December 8, 1993.
Surviving are 5 nephews: Curtis (Janice) Meiss, Fairbury, Roger (Judy) Meiss and Richard (Janet) Meiss, both of Sibley, Don Reel, Phoenix, AZ, and Ivan (Evelyn) Reel, Remington, IN. 1 Niece, Carolyn (Gordon) Price, Wolcott, IN.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Freed, Gibson City, IL and several cousins, great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by 1 brother, 1 infant sister, 1 nephew and 2 great nephews.
Mrs. Streib was a 1932 graduate of Lexington High School. She was a member of the 1st. United Methodist Church, Fairbury where she had taught Sunday school for nearly 20 years. She also instituted and was past president of the Wesleyan night group for Methodist women.
She served as past president of the Fairbury Hospital Auxiliary, Rebehak Lodge district #16, charter member of the Fairbury Organ Club aka. Music Lovers club, taught piano and enjoyed doing hand work, embroidering, crocheting, reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, camping and travel.
The family suggest memorials be given to the Charity of the Donor's Choice.
