Fairbury – Helen Louise Walter, 98, of Fairbury, passed away at 8:25pm, April 21, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00am on Friday, April 26, 2013 at Christian Apostolic Church in Forrest. Ministers of the church will be officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be held from 4-8:00pm on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45am on Friday at the church.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Christian Apostolic Church, Forrest, Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury, or the donor's choice of charity,

Helen was born February 5, 1915 in Fairbury the daughter of Peter and Katie Gerber Schaffer.

She married Edward Walter on January 1, 1937 in Pontiac. He died September 10, 1976 in Urbana.

Surviving are her children, Shirley (Glen) Kuenzi of Salem, OR, James (Juanita) Walter of Fairbury, Keith (Jackie) Walter of Forrest, Barbara (James) Kuenzi of Silverton, OR, Harvey (Margaret) Walter of Bloomington, Peter (LaRae) Walter of Forrest, Charles (Karen) Walter and Marilyn (Lynn) Kuenzi both of Salem, OR, Rosetta (Walter) Edelman of Fairbury, Nancy (John) Vitzthum of Pontiac, Duane (Marlene) Walter and Donald (Sue) Walter both of Fairbury, and Cynthia (Warren) Edelman of Strawn; 61 grandchildren; 166 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Peter (Emma) Schaffer and Richard (Elsie) Schaffer both of Fairbury; brother-in-law, Ivan Steidinger of Forrest and sister-in-law, Loida Hodel of Quincy.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one grandchild, two brothers and four sisters.

Helen was a member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Forrest.
