Helen Marie Zimmerman, 84, Fairbury died at 9:45 am Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Wednesday at the church. The family suggest donations be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community or to the Apostolic Christian Church, both in Fairbury.

Helen was born March 11, 1929 in Forrest, IL the daughter of Alphia and Clara Heinold Maurer. She married Gene Vaughan on March 16, 1947. She later married Lloyd Zimmerman on October 23, 1974 in Fairbury. He died on August 25, 1999.

Survivors include one son, Dennis (Kathy) Vaughan, one step son, Terry (Betty) Zimmerman, both of Fairbury; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Howard (Eileen) Maurer, Phoenix, AZ; Larry (Becky) Maurer, Glendale, AZ; four sisters, DeLoris (John) Thomas, Arlington Heights, IL; Wilma (John) Honegger, Peoria, IL; Dorothy Hoffman, and Gladys Koehl, both of Fairbury.

She is preceded in death by one son, Robert Vaughan, one step daughter, Sandra Zimmerman, two brothers, Donald Maurer and Ray Maurer.

Helen was a loving mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by her family and friends.
