Fairbury – Herbert Max Foltz – 89, of Fairbury, passed away at 2:15am, Friday, July 15, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center, Normal.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury. Military honors will be performed by the Fairbury American Legion and Fairbury VFW.
Memorials may be made to South Eastern Livingston County Ambulance Service (SELCAS), Dominy Memorial Library, or International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers (IBMC).
Max was born August 13, 1926, in Patoka, the son of Charles E. and Bessie Beckett Foltz. He married Minnie G. Lukaseck on August 6, 1949 in Centralia, IL. She passed away December 16, 2007.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Foltz of Fairbury; son, Richard (Linda) Foltz of North Miami Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Brandon, Kamara and Alayna Foltz; great-grandchild, Kamryn Dorce; two sisters, Nancy Hunt of Southaven, Mississippi and Lois Harris of California; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Max was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a Morse code operator near the end of WWII.
He was the manager and bookkeeper for the Fairbury Implement Company until he retired.
Max served as assistant fire chief for the Fairbury Fire Department.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers since 1988 and Heartland Sundae Road Riders for many years.
After age 55, he traveled over 200,000 miles across the U.S. on his Kawasaki Voyager and enjoyed meeting people from all walks of life.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Special thanks to Jim Wallace of Liberty Transport for expanding Max's horizons when he became unable to travel "solo", and to Marvin and Shannon for providing special assistance to allow him to attend IBMC campouts.
