Pontiac – Hila Ferguson, 96, of Pontiac, died at 2:57 am, August 26, 2026, at Evenglow Nursing Home, Pontiac.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Chenoa United Methodist Church. Pastor Charles Mendoza and Deb Honegger will be officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am, on Wednesday also at the church.

Memorials may be made to McLean County Animal Shelter, Evenglow Nursing Home, Pontiac, or East Bay Camp.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa, is in charge of arrangements.

Hila was born March 10, 1930, in Fairbury, the daughter of Albert and Ethel Hughes Wilson. She married Dale Ferguson on April 26, 1952. He died in 1994.

Surviving is her cousin, Carol Kilgore of OH and friends that have become family, The Marilyn Kauffman Family, The Mary Ann Tavener Family, and the Shelya Koopman Family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eddie Rowan.

Hila retired from State Farm after 46 years as a secretary.

She was a member of the Chenoa United Methodist Church. She volunteered at Meadows Mennonite Home and also played in the traveling church band, “Bill’s Kitchen Band”.

Hila loved dogs and cats; especially cats.

Hila was a social and joyful person. If you met her, you loved her and wanted to be around her.

She enjoyed her friends and golfing at Lakeside Country Club where she shot a hole in one.
