Homer John Blunier, 87, Eureka, and formerly of Forrest, died peacefully at 12:55 pm Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest, with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, and 9:00 to 9:45 am Saturday at the church. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, 610 West Cruger Avenue, Eureka, IL 61530 or Project AmaZon, for the mission work of Scott Blunier, P.O. Box 3253, Peoria, IL 61612.

Mr. Blunier was born January 25, 1923, in Eureka, IL the son of Samuel and Dena Wuethrich Blunier. He married Virginia Huber on February 19, 1950, in Fairbury, IL. She survives in Eureka.

Also surviving are their children, Stanley (Peg) Blunier, Forrest, IL, Gail (Marvin) Hodel, Peoria, IL, Scott (Aldine) Blunier, Santarem, Brazil, Joy Blunier, Normal, IL, one brother, Ben (Wilma) Blunier, Eureka, IL, one sister, Pearl Leman, Roanoke, IL, four sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Blunier, Wilma Blunier, Clara Lou Blunier, all of Eureka, Katie Blunier, Minneapolis, MN, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amy Hodel, three sisters, Grace (Emil) Strahm, Ruth (Ralph) Knepp, Genevieve Blunier, nine brothers, Harold (Emma) Blunier, Roy (Edna) Blunier, Sam Blunier, Walter (Marion) Blunier, Lee (Sarah) Blunier, Tilman (Lucille) Blunier, Henry Blunier, Vernon (Verda) Blunier, and Lewis Blunier.

Mr. Blunier was a lifetime farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Forrest, and also belonged to the Farm Bureau. He was an active and enthusiastic volunteer at home and abroad.

Homer had a kind and gentle spirit and was a friend to all.
