Obituary

Ida Lou Gundy, 78 of Gridley, passed away at 1:38 am, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington surrounded by her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  Her Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30 from 5-8 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home in Chenoa.  A private family graveside inurnment will be held in Gridley Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Gridley Fire Department or Gridley Ambulance.

Ida was born April 25, 1939 in Fairbury, the daughter of John and Mary (Zehr) Traub. She married Gary Gundy on December 3, 1958 in Fairbury. Her husband Gary survives in Gridley.

Other survivors include one son, Gary (Suzanne) Gundy II of Normal; two daughters, Patricia (John) West of Chenoa; Nelle (Judd) Stover of Lexington; five grandchildren, Gary (Tracy) Gundy III, Ashley Wright Jones, Krystal Gundy, Heather (Jordan) Vollmer, Judson & Emma Stover; four great grandchildren, Bryant, Blake & Brianna Gundy, and Wyatt Jones, two brothers, Harvey Traub and John Traub, five sisters, Kathryn Honegger, Ruth Streitmatter, Margie Leman, Evelyn Saal and Dorothy Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Ida was raised on the family farm in Fairbury.  She worked in her home as a hairdresser and cherished the friendships of her dear clients. She went by "Ikie" to her close friends and "Red" by her husband.  She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Tina Turner and loved spending time with her family.

Ida was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.
