Colfax – Iva Mae Petersen, 95, of Colfax passed away, September 5, 2024, at 4:00pm, at Goldwater Care Pontiac.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax. SAM Marcia Buchs will be officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am, Tuesday also at the church.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax.
Iva Mae was born December 20,1928, in Bloomington the daughter of Alvin and Lydia (Peterson) French.
She married Roy M. Petersen on December 23, 1950, in Downs. He died November 20, 2015.
Surviving are her children, Carl Petersen of Colfax, Alan (Sabrina) Petersen of Colfax, and Glen (Jamie) Petersen of LeRoy; grandchildren, Katie Petersen, Kellie (Brian) Lane, Lee Ann (Tyler) Bain, Joshua (Kaylee) Petersen, Tara (Chris) Walz, Cheyenne Petersen, Logan Petersen, Stephanie (Chance) Miller, and Stuart (Bhavini) Smith; great-grandchildren Riley Cherry, Brayden and Brenna Bain, Eva and Alaina Heisner, Bailey and Archer Lane, Autumn Walz, Wynnie and Jack Petersen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Ralph Petersen and two sisters.
Iva Mae graduated in 1950 from Illinois State University with her Business Education degree.
She farmed alongside her husband in the McLean County area. Roy and Iva Mae, also produced and sold produce for Petersen Produce which supplied produce to many local stores. They also enjoyed traveling around the country to see various farming operations.
Iva Mae was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Colfax, where she was a Sunday school teacher and helped in the kitchen. She also was an election judge for Lawndale Township.
Iva Mae loved baking pies; she could bake any kind of fruit pie.
