Iva Jean Whately, 81, Fairbury, died at 2:05 pm Friday, December 5, 2014 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Deacon George Wagner officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, December 8, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury, or OSF Hospice, Pontiac.
Mrs. Whately was born May 22, 1933, in Fairbury, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Harris) Ferguson. She married Charles Whately on September 1, 1951 in the St. John's Catholic Church Parsonage, Fairbury, IL. He survives in Fairbury, IL.
Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie (Otto) Cloudt, Chatsworth, IL, two sons, Art (Patsy) Whately, Fairbury, IL, Mike (Beth) Whately, Mattawan, MI, six grandchildren, one great grandson, two sisters, Nila (Don) Johanson, Fairbury, IL, and Alice Rigsby, Chenoa, IL.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Aura Mae Bowen and Eunice Volk.
Mrs. Whately was a 1951 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and had worked as a secretary-bookkeeper. She attended St. Andrew Catholic Church, Fairbury (formerly: St. John the Baptist Catholic Church) and was active in the church choir and the Altar and Rosary Society.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, birds and being outside. Most of all she loved being surrounded by her family.
