Anchor – Jack A. Bales, 76, Anchor, died 10:13 AM, Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday May 3, 2007 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. His funeral service will be 10 am, Friday, May 4, 2007 also at the memorial home in Colfax with Pastor Bill Brown officiating the service. Full military rites will be accorded by the Colfax American Legion, with burial to take place in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax, IL.
Jack was born January 27, 1931 in Arlington Heights, OH, the son of Addison and Mary (Hibbard) Bales. He married Louise Todd October 18, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, KY; she survives in Anchor, IL.
Also surviving are 1 daughter; Donna Bales, Anchor, 1 son; Randy (Carol) Bales, Colfax, 3 grandchildren; Danielle Crumley, Anchor, Joshua and Caitlyn Bales both of Colfax, 1 great granddaughter, Caphirre Crumley, Anchor, 2 sisters; Mascal Olendar, MI, Carolyn (Chan) Anderson, KY, 2 brothers; Jim (Pearl) Bales, OH, Ellis (Barbara) Bales, KY, 2 brother in-laws Edmond (Marie) Todd, Hermen (Frances) Todd, 3 sister in-laws Alta Lakes, Wilmoth Berry and Martha Todd all of Kentucky. And many nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Bales served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1952. He worked for General Motors in Willow Springs, IL for over 32 years. He attended the Lexington Community Church, Lexington.
Jack enjoyed fishing and gardening but above all he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a father figure to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Lexington Community Church Building Fund.
