James D. Smith 78, of Chenoa passed away at 3:10 am, Monday, October 10, 2011 at Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan.
Funeral services will be at 1 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Carrie Carnes officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service on Thursday also at the memorial home in Chenoa.
Jim was born May 21, 1933 in Flanagan the son of Orville and Helen (Eisele) Smith. He married Betty Pickett on June 4, 1955 in Chenoa. She passed away December 19, 2003.
Survivors include two children, Carla (Bob) Corrie and James B. Smith both of Chenoa; one sister, Marvene (Bob) Redlin of Silver Lake, WI; two grandsons, Joshua Corrie of Huntington, WV; and Matthew Corrie of Cottonwood, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Glenn, Richard and Jerry Smith.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to American Heart and Lung Association or Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan.
Jim was a member of Pontiac Sportsman's Club and the Pontiac Elks Club. He was employed by Gardner Sales and Service, Pontiac as service manager and later a route driver for Kelly-Sauder-Rupiper Equipment, Pontiac retiring in 2010. He enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
